国際交流員（CIR）とは
国際交流員とは、CIR(Coordinator for International Relations)とも呼ばれ、一般財団法人自治体国際化協会の実施する「語学指導等を行う外国青年招致事業（JETプログラム）」により招致され、国際交流活動に関する職務に従事する外国青年のことです。国際交流員は日本語も堪能です。
南魚沼市では、外国人の目線から地域の観光客誘致に向けてのPRやインバウンド対策などのため、令和元年7月から国際交流員を任用しています。
(注意）JETプログラムとは、「語学指導等を行う外国青年招致事業（The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme)」の略称で、総務省、外務省、文部科学省と一般財団法人自治体国際化協会の協力のもとに、地方自治体が海外青年を招致するプログラムです。

Hello, Minamiuonuma!
初めまして。
国際交流員のゾーイ・ラインズと申します。アメリカのニューヨーク州から来ましたが、フランスのパリ、イタリアのフィレンツェ、アメリカのバーモント州出身とも言えます。
バーモントカレーと同じバーモント州にあるミドルベリー大学で日本語と国際関係を勉強しながら、アカペラや陶芸部に所属していました。
また、南魚沼市に来る前に地元にあるカフェでバリスタをやっていたため、美味しいコーヒーとラテアートにはまりました。
国際交流員として南魚沼市にいる間に市の魅力的な資質を海外に向けて発信していきたいと思います。

My name is Zoe Lynds, nice to meet you! I lived in upstate New York before coming here but having moved around a lot, Florence, Italy, a small village near Paris, France and Vermont are all places I call home.
I studied International and Global Studies and Japanese language at Middlebury College, a small liberal arts school in the town of Middlebury, Vermont. Outside of classes I spent my time rehearsing with my acapella group and trying my hand at making bowls and mugs at the Ceramics house.
Before moving to Minamiuonuma, I was working as a barista in a small café near my house, and I got really into tasty coffee and latte art.
During my time as CIR, I hope to share with the world the myriads of local gems this small Japanese city nestled among the mountains has to offer.
I’m excited to be here, and I look forward to getting to know as many of you as I can!

Hello, Minamiuonuma!
こんにちは。
私は国際交流員のデービッドオディアと申します。
アメリカのマサチューセッツ州から来ました。マサチューセッツ州は南魚沼市と同じく四季がきれいですが、「雪国」と呼ばれる南魚沼ほど雪が降らない地域です。
ミネソタ州にあるカールトン大学で生物と日本語を勉強しながら、アルティメット部に所属し、練習したり大会に参加したりしました。
また、時間のある時はよくチョコチップクッキー作りを楽しみ、今では私の得意料理になりました。
国際交流員として南魚沼市にいる間、南魚沼市のさまざまな情報について、海外に発信していきたいと思います。

My name is David O'Dea and I moved to Minamiuonuma City to work as its first CIR within the Commerce and Tourism Division.
Growing up I lived in a small town outside of Boston, Massachusetts, an area where there are four distinct seasons including a cold and snowy winter.
After graduating high school, I moved to Minnesota where I studied Biology and Japanese language at Carleton College. Outside of the classroom I spent most of my time playing for the ultimate team CUT, but when I didn't have practice I could often be found baking chocolate chip cookies in one of the campus house kitchens.
While here I intend to promote the spread of information on Minamiuonuma overseas and share with foreigners the spectacular activities, landmarks and stories this small city in the Japanese countryside has to offer.
